T-ara’s song is released illegally, “We will take legal action”



Groups Gangkiz and T-ara’s songs were recently released illegally and their agency, Core Contents Media, announced its official position.
On May 24, the agency said, “We are planning to take legal action internationally since T-ara’s new song and Gangkiz’s follow up song were released illegally on YouTube.”
T-ara’s new song and Gangkiz’s follow up song were going to be released in the summer. Worldwide choreographer Jonte Moaning, who has worked with Beyonce for her song “Single Lady,” created choreography for the songs. Bae Yoon Jung, the leader of a Korean choreography team, went to New York to learn dance moves from him.
Bae says, “When I was learning dance moves from Jonte in New York, officials of Core Contents Media, a Japanese agency, and a US agency were recording the video.” The agency is currently checking into the validity of the claims.

MBC decides not to play Jay Park’s objectionable songs



The deliberations assembly of MBC recently announced that they will not play 4 of Jay Park’s songs from his first album, which were designated as ‘harmful to youths.’
On May 24, an official of MBC said, “We follow what the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family announce. Park’s songs were designated as ‘harmful to youths’ so we are not going to play his songs during the ‘peak youth listening times.’”
He added, “We are not saying that we will not play Park’s songs at all, we are saying that we won’t play his songs during these times.’”
On May 24, the Ministry released a list of Park’s songs, including, “Turn off Your Phone” and “Wasted” that they deemed ‘harmful to youth.’
From Park’s first album New Breed, which was released in February, 4 songs were designated as ‘harmful to youth.’ The ministry said the songs “New Breed” and “Aom & 1llionare” include coarse language and “Turn off Your Phone” and “Wasted” include coarse language and dangerous drugs.
Illinit’s “Ill Bomb” and Dok2′s “Leave Me Alone” were also designated as ‘harmful to youth.’
The decision will come into force starting on May 31.

SHINee’s Key shares proof shots of arriving in the USA and returning home



This past weekend, the artists of SM Entertainment performed in front of thousands of screaming fans at the SMTOWN Live in LA held at the Honda Center in Anaheim.
On May 22nd, SHINee’s Key updated fans through the group’s me2day, writing, “Here is the authentication proof shot of the USA arrival and safe return home. Home sweet home ’ㅂ’ Oh, I missed you!” The first picture shows Key showing four different expressions for the camera, though it’s quite clear that he is exhausted, thanks to his busy schedules. In the second picture, it appears that Key is sitting in the plane, a hat pulled over his eyes.
Because of his activities in the musical “Catch Me if You Can”, Key had to leave the concert early to catch a flight.

JJ Project gives debut performance on M Countdown



New big group JJ Project will appear on M Countdown for their debut performance.
JJ Project, the most popular project from JYP Entertainment, drew a lot of attention by releasing a teaser video. Then they released their album on May 20 and a music video for the title song received over a million hits on YouTube only 2 days after its release.
The music video for the title song “Bounce” was released on May 20 and ranked first in 4 categories on Korean YouTube: Top Favorite Videos, Most Viewed Videos, Most Liked, and Most Discussed Videos. It also ranked high in several categories on worldwide YouTube: 4th in Top Favorite Videos, 10th in Most Viewed Videos, 7th in Most Discussed Videos, and 4th in Most Liked.
The group will capture the public’s attention by giving more powerful and exciting performances on the stage and will activate the release of endorphin and energy.
JJ Project says, “We are very excited to perform on TV for the first time. We will do our best to give a wonderful performance so that we can thank the people who payed a lot of attention to our music and debut. We will try hard to please everyone.”

B1A4′s “Baby Good Night” has secret meaning



Group B1A4 surprised their fans with their song “Baby Good Night.”
B1A4 released their first album B1A4 Ignition Special Edition on May 24.
In the teaser for the song, group members made people curious about the song by talking to their girlfriend through the phone saying, “You didn’t go to bed yet? Where do you want to meet me tomorrow? I’ll go to your house then.”
Many people thought the song is about a romantic declaration of love like Sung Si Kyung’s song “Good Night” but that was not true.
The song is written by leader Jin Young and is about a play boy who tries to make his girlfriend fall asleep so that he can go out and cheat on her. The song is synthpop combined with house. Unique and sensational lyrics, written by group members, complement the song and capture the public’s attention.
It says, “Yes, you go to bed first tonight. If you fall asleep I’ll go to bed too. I hung up the phone and got ready to go out in fancy clothes. Nobody knows. I’ll lie to you today. I’ll go back to you tomorrow. If you feel awkward or know what is going on, can you just move on?”
People who listened to the song responded: “The song surprised me a lot.” “The song sounds scary.” “I like the song! It’s even sweet.” “Even though I know what is going on, I’ll move on if I hear their voice.” “The song captured me perfectly.”
B1A4 will start keeping busy by appearing in the May 25 episode of KBS’s Music Bank and releasing their album offline on May 29.

Junsu and Juno, the twin, make top 10 on Japan’s Oricon Chart



Junsu’s first solo album Xia Trantellegra claimed the ninth spot on Oricon’s weekly album chart upon its release on May 20. His smooth start didn’t go unnoticed since his album climbed the chart so quickly within its first day of release. 
His twin brother, Juno, isn’t so far behind. His single “Everything” which was released on May 16, reached the tenth place on Oricon’s weekly singles Chart.  
With the recent success of K-pop in Japan, seeing Korean singers/groups securing spots in the top 10 on Japan’s Oricon chart isn’t rare. However, seeing twin brothers ranking high on Oricon’s weekly chart is rare enough to draw much attention.
On May 23, the boyband Supernova and T-ara also released their new singles “Stupid love/Come back to me” and “Lovey-Dovey”(Japanese version). Immediately after the release of their new singles, Supernova and T-ara ranked # 4 and # 5 on Oricon’s daily singles chart respectively.
Kim Jung Hoon also released his new Japanese album titled Voice and Teen Top also put out Teen Top Japan First Edition, respectively securing the fifth and sixth places on Oricon’s daily album Chart.
Following the release of their album Sherlock on May 16, Shinee quickly climbed the chart and reached # 2 on Oricon’s weekly singles chart. F.T. Island is only a few places behind, making the fourth spot on Oricon’s weekly album chart.

Google goes gaga for K-pop stars



On Monday, K-pop giants flocked to Google headquarters near San Jose, California, for a three-hour performance that coincided with YouTube’s seventh birthday.
The performances by Girls’ Generation, Super Junior, TVXQ, Wonder Girls, Kara, Beast, Sistar and MBlaq brought in some 22,000 K-pop fans to the venue. The show was co-hosted by Google and MBC and was streamed live via YouTube.
More than 3,000 Google and YouTube employees also chose to watch the show and one worker, Jacque Herbert, said that workers at the Internet giant are fans of K-pop.
“There is not a Googler who is not aware of the growing popularity of K-pop,” Herbert said.
The fact that the day of the concert was YouTube’s seventh birthday made the show even more memorable.
“There’s no better way to mark the company’s seventh birthday than a K-pop concert. It’s a worldwide trend that blends perfectly with YouTube,” a representative from Google Entertainment said.

T-ara to remake the old K-pop Nami’s “Round and Round”


Girl group T-ara remade the old K-pop Nami’s “Round and Round.”
On May 23, T-ara released a digital single album Round and Round, a hit song of the 80s. The song will also be included in the compilation album T-ara’s Trip Down Memory Lane with 33 Songs – Girls’ High School Days, which contains old pop songs released in the 80s.
“Round and Round” is arranged for the modern style with a fast melody and an electronic sound.
Core Contents Media, T-ara’s agency, says, “T-ara is not planning to perform this song on TV, but we hope that this song can be loved by people of all ages.”

Leeteuk disturbs Tiffany’s emceeing? “It’s a misunderstanding.”



The production crew of K Pop concert tried to clarify and explain about the controversy of Leeteuk in response to netizens’ criticism.
On May 21 at California Amphitheatre, Korean Music Wave in Google that MBC, Google, and Youtube co-hosted was held and broadcast live on Youtube.
At the end of the concert, all the stars reappeared on stage singing “Arirang.” After singing the song, Leeteuk held the microphone and closed the ceremony by saying, “We who have different languages and appearances have united as one in music.” However, few netizens criticized him for saying the closing line when SNSD’s Taeyeon and Tiffany were MCs of the event and not him.
A local publicist of MBC explained, “I believe that the criticism is from some misunderstanding of the situation. The director of the concert asked Leeteuk who has a lot of experience in emceeing, to wrap up the big live concert.”
He also stated, “It’s nonsense that he disturbed Tiffany’s emceeing. Leeteuk coming on stage with a microphone shows that it has been planned beforehand.”
Leeteuk also tried to explain himself on Twitter by posting, “I was asked to wrap up the concert with closing lines after singing the ending song ‘Arirang.’ I would like to give my sincere apologies if saying the closing line with the producer’s request is a wrongdoing. If not, I would like to politely ask you not to criticize me.”
Many top stars performed in this concert including TVXQ, Super Junior, Wonder Girls, SNSD, Kara, B2ST, Mblaq, Sistar, and f(x). Youtube MBC K-pop Channel and Youtube Presents Channel received so much attention that 190,000 comments were posted simultaneously. The concert will air on MBC soon.

SNSD’s Seohyun gives a passionate performance with her “black charisma”!



Recently, SNSD’s Seohyun has transformed into a rocker.
On May 21 at 7:00 p.m. (Western time), the star changed into a rocker and performed Cherry Filter’s “Flying Duck” at the MBC Korean Music Wave in Google held at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California. Her performance broadcasted live on YouTube throughout the world on May 22.
She first appeared on stage in a black leather outfit, holding a pink guitar on one shoulder. Up to this day, she has been keeping an innocent, pure image; however, she appealed with a passionate performance of a fast-tempo song “Flying Duck” and received an explosive feedback from the audience. During the latter half of the song, the singer ran around the stage and posed with cute gestures. Her fan service came back to her in forms of clapping and cheering.

JYJ’s Kim Jun Soo will start his two month long Asian tour.
Kim will hold the concert ‘XIA 1st Asia Tour in Thailand’ in Bangkok, Thailand, on May 27 at 6:00 in the afternoon. This is the first concert he will hold while touring Asia.
Kim previously held a concert in Korea and thrilled over 15,000 people. He will meet about 4,000 people in Thailand.
Kim’s agency, C-JeS Entertainment, says, “Tickets for his Thai concert sold out after only in 10 minutes. His unconventional music video is also receiving an explosive response. Since he held a successful concert in Korea, many Asian countries want to invite him to hold concerts.”
