Jang Keun Suk sweeps Japanese Oricon chart



Actor Jang Keun Suk recently captured the Japanese Oricon chart.
On June 5, according to Jang’s agency, Tree J. Company, Jang’s first Japanese regular album Just Crazyranked first on the Oricon weekly chart.
Jang released the album on May 30 and ranked first on the Oricon daily chart. The album ranked first on both the daily and weekly chart by selling 88,000 copies in the first week of its release.
It has been a long time since a male solo to ranked first with his first album. Japanese singer Moriyama Naotaro ranked first 8 years ago in 2004. Jang is also the first foreign solo artist to rank first on the chart. Scatman John from the U.S. ranked second in 1995 and Korean singer K also ranked second in 2006.
Jang’s first single Let Me Cry, which was released in April of last year, ranked first on the Oricon daily and weekly charts. As a result, both his first single and regular albums ranked first on the chart.
Jang is the third solo singer to rank first on the Oricon weekly chart with his first single and regular albums. He set a new record 17 years and 4 months after Uchida Yuki released her single in 1994 and regular album in 1995.
Jang will start going on the ’2012 Jang Keun Suk Asia Tour’ in Seoul in July under the title of ‘The Cri Show 2.’ Then he will tour 4 Japanese cities (Yokohama, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka) and Shanghai, Shenzhen, Taiwan, and Thailand.
