Big Bang are the bestselling singing group in the first half of 2012.
Big Bang have sold 266,911 copies of their fifth EP, Alive, and ranked first on the album chart of the Gaon Chart for the first half of 2012. Big Bang’s fifth EP is the only EP that sold more than 200,000 copies.
Many songs from this EP, including the lead track “Blue,” are in the upper ranks of the audio chart for the first half of 2012. Big Bang are also in the top ten of the album chart with their special edition EP, Still Alive, with sales of 117,929 copies (the sixth).
SHINee ranked second with their fourth EP, Sherlock, with the sales of 168,161 copies.
SNSD’s first unit group Tae Ti Seo sold the most among girl groups. They ranked third with their first EP, Twinkle, with sales of 140,826 copies.
JYJ’s Jun Su ranked fourth (126,220 copies) with his first solo album, Tarantallegra. He is the bestselling solo singer. CN Blue ranked fifth (121,735 copies) with their third EP, Ear Fun.
Busker Busker’s first album ranked seventh with sales of 114,760 copies, and Shinhwa ranked tenth with their tenth album, The Return (77,279 copies).
A spokesperson for the Gaon Chart says, “There were only 12 albums that sold more than 100,000 copies last year, but already nine albums sold more than 100,000 copies in the first half of this year.”
