Kim Hyun Joong beats Super Junior and TVXQ in Japanese EP sales

Kim Hyun Joong’s EP Heat is showing off its power in Japan.
According to the Japanese Oricon Chart, the EP, which was released in July, has sold 200,580 copies so far in total. He is the first K-pop singer, to sell more than 200,000 copies among K-pop groups and soloists this year.
The EP sold 138,000 copies on the day of its release and ranked first on the Oricon Daily Chart. Then the song also ranked first on the Oricon Weekly Chart and third on the Monthly Chart. It sold over 200,000 copies only in two weeks.
This is a higher record than Super Junior, who previously set the record by selling 184,000 copies of Opera and TVXQ set by selling 175,000 copies of Android.
A local official says, “Kim has made a surprising record in the Japanese music market, where Japanese singers are in fierce competition against each other.”
“It is because Kim held various promotions, including concerts and fan meetings, to communicate with his fans rather than just promoting his song. Popular Japanese musician B’z also helped him to become popular.”
Kim is currently staying in Japan to shoot the TV series City Conquest.
